Position: GIS and Demographic Analyst

Major Responsibilities:
• Maintain, adjust and keep up-to-date the school district GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software applications.
• Prepare and maintain analysis applications (GIS and other) of population trends, births, census data, residential development, and various sources of demographic data and analyze the data for both short-term and long-term student projections.
• Maintain, analyze and ensure the accuracy of all appropriate data to help project student enrollments, facility capacity needs, facility locations and student assignment to schools.
• Prepare and maintain geographic data for application in school boundary planning and facility location planning, including analysis of ‘what if’ scenarios
• Office computer and server knowledge in order to maintain the departments computers and GIS server.
• Develop, implement and maintain new methods of information access for the public regarding student assignment, transportation, etc.
• Correspond to inquiries regarding demographic data and student assignments;
• Interact with other District departments and other public service providers gathering and providing demographic data.
• Provide on-going training of Planning staff in GIS applications.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Qualifications:
1) Bachelor’s degree; 2) experience in data analysis, population projections, land-use planning, demographics and use of software in demographic setting; 3) knowledge and experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), specifically ArcGIS platform; 4) ability to accurately generate demographic data research by accessing, analyzing and presenting data on various projects within the department. 5) knowledge of planning, forecasting and population projection principles and methodologies; 6) ability to work independently and collaboratively, often under deadlines, in assembling and analyzing quantitative and qualitative information; 7) ability to work in a team environment 8) personal vehicle usage, attendance at night meetings and work outside of the normal workday as needed.
