Bolton & Menk is expanding its Community Planning practice in the Carolinas, and is looking for a motivated, experienced Senior Planner to help lead the way. This role would be part of both a multi-state community planning team based in the Midwest as well as our established planning and urban design presence in the Southeast. Location is flexible, with the potential to join our Charlotte, Raleigh, or Wilmington, NC offices. What You Will Be Doing:
The right candidate will be able to leverage their planning experience to provide exceptional client service as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. We pride ourselves on being creative problem-solvers and are looking for a teammate who shares our commitment to public purpose and community-centered placemaking. Your work is anticipated to include current planning and development review, zoning and other code updates, comprehensive planning, strategic planning, and key roles in other projects including downtown and master planning, corridor studies, and other multidisciplinary projects. This role will also help build a team of planning professionals over time, mentor and lead early career professionals, as well as to seek out opportunities and make connections with existing and new clients.
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in urban and regional planning, urban studies, architecture, landscape architecture, or affiliated degrees.
- 15+ years of progressive experience
- Experience managing staff as part of project teams and as a supervisor
- AICP certification strongly preferred
- Thorough knowledge of planning methods and application at the local and regional level
- Experienced in agency and stakeholder involvement techniques and processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with other professions in a multidisciplinary environment
