Summary:
The City of Belmont is soliciting proposals from qualified consulting firms to provide professional services for a comprehensive review and update of the City’s Land Development Code. The City seeks to modernize its LDC to:
- Align with the 2025 Comp Plan Update
- Improve clarity, usability, and administrative efficiency
- Reinforce Belmont’s longstanding form-based zoning approach, while still providing flexibility for further refinement through Euclidean requirements
- Integrate current land use best practices
- Ensure compliance with NC statutes and recent case law
As a part of this engagement, the selected consultant shall evaluate whether the Code would be best served by a targeted update or a comprehensive rewrite.
