General Job Description:
The Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments (WRCOG) is seeking a Transportation Planner to support its bi-state MPO, Grand Strand Area Regional Transportation Study (GSATS) serving the Myrtle Beach MSA. This position will plan, report and manage MPO projects and contracts in North Carolina and South Carolina and implement activities and initiatives as the designated recipient of Federal Transit Administration funds, as needed. This position will also collect and analyze transportation, land use and population data, and utilize this information to develop planning documents and studies. The selected candidate will be required to interpret and apply applicable federal, state, county and local codes, ordinances and regulations.
Minimum Education and Training:
Entry level: Bachelors degree; Associate and Senior level: Masters Degree
Entry level: 0-3 years of experience; Associate level: 3-5 years experience; Senior level: 7+ years of experience
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred: AICP and/or Certified Floodplain Manager
