Summary:
The City of Belmont, NC, is soliciting proposals from qualified consultants to provide professional services for an update to the Center City Small Area Plan. The effort will build upon previous planning initiatives to guide future growth, redevelopment, mobility, and economic vitality within Belmont’s downtown core. While the plan has served downtown well, it is almost 10 years old. Additionally, the City recently updated its Comprehensive Land Use Plan in late 2025 which offered a number of recommendations relating to maintaining community character, managing land development, and promoting economic growth in downtown.
Center City, is the crown jewel of Belmont with its quaint shopfronts and pedestrian friendly street. It is the cultural, historic, and economic heart of the community. The City seeks a forward-looking, implementable plan to guide future growth and reinforce its identity as a vibrant, walkable destination.
