Beaufort County is located in coastal South Carolina and is the home of the historic City of Beaufort and the resort community of Hilton Head Island. The area offers historic communities and an abundance of natural resources and outdoor recreation.
Job Summary
The position involves interaction with the public providing assistance with a variety of issues related to zoning and permitting. Under limited supervision, the zoning and development analyst II administers and enforces the Community Development Code; reviews zoning permit applications for conformity to code and issues permits as well as applications for business licenses from citizens for approval; Performs data entry/recall for development/zoning permit programs; assists in pre-applications for minor subdivision reviews and consults with other departments and outside agencies to obtain objectives; and reports to the Zoning Analyst III.
Minimum Qualifications
• Associates degree in Public Administration, Planning, Business Administration or closely related field
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license • Knowledge of the Community Development Code
• Ability to read and understand surveys and use an Engineer Scale
• Computer application, including Geographic Information System, MUNIS and Microsoft Office software
