Duties for this Position:
The Senior Planner will be immersed in and responsible for many current planning activities and land development review within the department. The Senior Planner will coordinate and often facilitate meetings with design professionals, various County staff and departments, and citizens. This position will also work with various boards and commissions. Candidates should be able to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Administers the Zoning Ordinance and Land Development Regulations, providing research and drafting of proposed text amendments.
- Reviews development plans to ensure compliance with Zoning and Land Development
Regulations. - Assists in the preparation of Rezoning materials for Planning Commission and County
Council. - Assists in the preparation of Variance and Special Exception materials for Zoning Board
of Appeals.
Position Minimum Requirements:
Qualified candidate must possess a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape
Architecture, Public Administration, Architecture, Engineering, Environmental Science, or other
related field. Candidates should have experience with ArcGIS experience. Candidates must be willing
to furnish work samples at time of interview and be able to pass required pre-employment physical
and background check.
