Position: Senior Planner, Horry County

Salary: $49, 456 (Grade 25)

Job Summary: Under supervision of the Principal Planner, the Senior Planner is responsible for conducting development plan review. The Senior Planner may also be responsible for a variety of development and current planning activities including, but not limited to, preparation of technical memos and presentations, the drafting of zoning and land development regulations, and researching specific planning issues to develop reports. This position will also work with various boards, commissions and community groups as the need arises.

Minimum Qualifications and Other Requirements: Qualified candidates should possess a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field, such as Architecture, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Natural Resource Management or Urban Design; with a minimum of one to two (1-2) years of progressive experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience in one or a combination of the following planning areas in necessary in order to perform duties of the position: development and/or construction project review, surveying, transportation planning, urban design or architecture. Strong computer skills with experience with ArcGIS and PC based planning, mapping and design programs is desired. Candidates must be able to pass required pre-employment physical and background check.
