Opening Date: July 26, 2019

Closing Date: August 30, 2019

Salary Range:$60,000 – $85,000, subject to qualifications/experience

Looking for a highly motivated individual who loves a challenge, relentlessly pursues excellence, who loves to work hard despite sometimes seemingly insurmountable challenges and sometimes while under resourced to help create opportunities for our rural region. Our organizational culture is very inclusive, and we believe people are our #1 resource, so you must be a strong leader who can connect with and inspire others to achieve new “personal bests” consistently. You will have a young planning team that needs mentorship to grow into their full potential, you will deal with local elected officials and county/city senior leaders on a routine basis, and you will be expected to lead across the entire organization as a member of the Executive Leadership Team. This means soft skills (people skills) ARE A MUST!

You must be willing to roll your sleeves up on any given day to do whatever is necessary to advance organizational and departmental goals. This means you must be able to adeptly maneuver between the strategic level and the tactical level very fluently. You also must be entrepreneurial as you will be expected to see opportunities and negotiate technical assistance agreements that are win-win with our local governments and find opportunities to add value to local businesses that generate revenue.

If you wake up in the middle of the night thinking about ways to solve the “challenge of the week”, you might be the person we are looking for. If you are a person who refuses to be defeated by a challenge, you might be the person we are looking for. If you feel that you are a David in search of a Goliath to defeat, you might be the person we are looking for.

WARNING: This position, while it pays well and offers some very good benefits, is not for someone who wants to come to work and coast. You will be expected to hit the ground running and figure things out very quickly.

In government work, you will never get rich, but we do very meaningful work, have a great workplace environment, and have fun while doing the job. Are you the one we are looking for?
