Planning and Codes Administration Internship – City of Clemson

Opening Date: March 15, 2019

Closing Date: March 29, 2019 by 5:00 p.m

Position: Planning Internship

Rate of Pay: $15/hour

Duties and Responsibilities: The City of Clemson is accepting resumes for planning interns for the summer of 2019 and for the 2019-2020 academic year. The summer internship is a temporary full-time staff position working directly for the City, and the academic year internship is a part-time opportunity set up through a public service agreement with the Master of City and Regional Planning program at Clemson University.

Responsibilities include assisting staff with current planning and development review activities, conducting research in support of special projects and long-range planning activities, and supporting staff with daily office needs. This is a great opportunity for an aspiring planner to be exposed to the multiple aspects of the planning profession in a single small planning department. Applicants may choose to apply to one or both of the available positions.

Desirable Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with some formal education or background in planning. Preferred qualifications are experience with and/or knowledge of statistical analyses, quality technical writing skills, ability to effectively communicate ideas to a wide range of audiences, familiarity with GIS (specifically ESRI ArcMap 10.2), and proficiency with Microsoft Office as well as Adobe products.

Interested applicants should email a letter of interest and resume to Todd Steadman, at

Put “Planning Intern” in the subject line, and please indicate on your resume the time period(s) (summer, academic year, or both) during which you are interested in working.
