Planner – Kershaw County

Position: Planner, Kershaw County

Salary Range: $35,000-$45,000, DOQ

Job Summary: Work with the general public, developing community, and elected and appointed officials regarding land use policies, regulations, and zoning. Maintaining accurate knowledge of adopted codes and regulations so as to review projects and provide advice to the community. Perform professional and technical work in short- and long-range planning programs related to the development and implementation of land use plans and policies, infrastructure development and other County projects and programs. Under the supervision of the Planning and Zoning Director, the Planner will provide staff support to the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals in pursuit of the goals of the Kershaw County’s Comprehensive Plan. The Planner may assist the Planning and Zoning Director in the areas of public outreach, subdivision, site plan review, policy development, public outreach and other related planning functions.

Minimum Qualifications and Additional Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is desirable. Certified Floodplains Manager and/or American Institute of Certified Planners certification is a plus.
