General Job Description:

The Town of Moncks Corner is accepting applications for the position of Community Development Director. Position is responsible for all Town planning activities, as well as supervising the Town’s Building Inspection and Business Development functions. One of South Carolina’s fastest growing towns, Moncks Corner has doubled in size to over 14,000 residents in the past decade. There are currently a dozen residential developments under construction with further growth on the horizon. Commercial development is equally strong, and the position serves as the economic development director for the Town. Immediate projects include finishing the updated comprehensive plan, writing an entirely new Unified Development Ordinance, and a major downtown redevelopment initiative. Located less than an hour from downtown Charleston, Moncks Corner is a perfect location for families or anyone looking for a mix of amenities, growth, and small-town charm.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration or Planning or related field and five years of experience or a Master’s Degree in Public Administration or related field and three to five years
related experience in planning, or closely related field with some supervisory experience; or any combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Must be an AICP Certified Planner. Must have a valid State driver’s license. Exempt Position, Grade 113. Starting salary is anticipated to be between $63,319 and $72,025
depending on qualifications and experience.
