Position Overview:
The purpose of the class is to perform professional and technical work in short- and long-range planning programs related to the development and implementation of land use plans and policies, infrastructure development and other County projects and programs, and to perform related professional, administrative and supervisory work as required. To plan, direct, and supervise the design, implementation, administration, and review of County projects and plans to ensure adequate and effective facilitation of County growth and development; researches and formulates long-range goals for the County, and works closely with administrative officers and/or elected officials. The class works within broad policy and organizational guidelines and does independent planning and implementation, reporting progress of major activities through routine conferences and meetings with the Director of Planning and Zoning.

Minimum Education and Training –
Requires a Master’s Degree in Urban or Regional Planning with four to six years of experience in County or Municipal Planning; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. The successful candidate should also demonstrate the ability to make decisions using innovation, creativity, and flexibility. A collaborative mindset and the ability to form effective relationships with internal and external customers is essential. AICP certification and knowledge in the use of ESRI ArcMap is preferred.
