Position Overview
The County of Spartanburg, South Carolina is recruiting for the position of Transportation Modeler. This position will be an integral part of the County’s Transportation Team. The primary duty of this employee is to lead and/or support short and long-range analysis, planning and research activities as related to the Spartanburg County transportation network, including database preparation, coordination, analysis; GIS layer organization and presentation; use of land use and transportation modeling software and development of planning models, etc. The Transportation Modeler will identify and implement transportation, infrastructure, and land use analyses, studies, and plans, which may include conceptualization of development scenarios, travel demand analyses and reviews, corridor identification and analysis, multi-level modeling, working with State and County transportation professionals, preparing RFP/RFQs, as necessary.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree with major course work in urban planning and considerable experience in transportation planning/modeling work is required. Knowledge of modeling software and GIS are required. A master’s degree in planning and AICP certification are preferred.
