Job Summary
The City of Columbia Planning and Development Services is searching for a talented, energetic, detail-oriented, problem-solver who is dedicated to providing outstanding customer service to serve as our next Development Center Coordinator. The position performs critical work the coordination and navigation of the development review process.

 Essential Functions
Under the general supervision of the Development Center Administrator, the Development Coordinator will guide customers through the development review process from start to finish. Responsibilities include acquiring and maintaining an excellent knowledge of the complex development review process; applying that knowledge to explain to internal and external customers the steps and information required for review; coordinating the work of multiple departments; utilizing software to track projects and direct actions; generating reports and correspondence related to the process; maintaining organized project records, plans, and files; and other work necessary to achieve a streamlined and user-friendly development review process.

Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a person who can provide unsurpassed customer service, who understands complex processes and systems, who possesses excellent written and oral communication skills, and who has an affinity for organization and details. Successful applicant must demonstrate ability to work well with others, especially as part of an established team. Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, geography, architecture, public administration, engineering or closely related field and three (3) years of relevant prior experience, preferably providing technical assistance in the application/permitting/development review process. Valid South Carolina Class “D” Driver’s License.
