Applying for SC CPAT Community Assistance

We are excited to learn more about your potential CPAT project! Please follow the steps outlined below to apply.

Step 1: Email the CPAT Chair, Shea Farrar, to show interest and provide a general idea of the project you have in mind. Shea will respond, indicate whether the project might be a good fit, and provide information about if/when is a good time to proceed with an application.

Step 2: Complete the CPAT Community Application

Step 3: Submit application payment

Step 3: If selected, CPAT leadership will work with the applicant to refine the project scope, build the project team, establish a general timeline, and set the stage for successful project execution.

 

The project selection process includes several steps,  Application materials can be found below. Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Shea Farrar, CPAT Chair, at sheaf@hiltonheadislandsc.gov for more information.

STEP 1: Email the CPAT Chair, Shea Farrar

Contact the CPAT Chair, Shea Farrar, via email (sheaf@hiltonheadislandsc.gov) to demonstrate interest and provide a general idea of the project you have in mind. Shea will respond, indicate whether the project might be a good fit, and provide information about timing to submit an application. The schedule varies based on current and planned projects, team availability, and more.

STEP 2: Complete the Application

Please create a document that provides the following information.

Title of Project

Provide a short name for your project.  For example, Andersonville Transportation Project: Connectivity, Community, & Coordination. This should be the title/main heading of your submission.

Brief Summary of Project

Provide a short paragraph (3-5 sentences) summarizing and outlining the key points of your community’s project/issue.

Description of Project/Statement of Problem

This section will serve as the main body of your application. We encourage you to include images and maps to define the study area and highlight any key issues. The following guidelines and questions should be used when writing your statement.

  1. Describe the issues affecting your community that influence or have led to the need for community assistance. Include the degree to which the problem is recognized by leadership and the community, and the obstacles (social, political, economic, physical, etc.) to addressing and overcoming these issues.
  2. Describe how this project will build on past efforts or advance current work within the community. Please describe any approaches used and the level of success they had or are having

STEP 4 (if selected): Refine Project Schedule and Work Plan

Click the button to submit your application. Note you will be required to uploading a digital form of your application and pay the non-refundable application fee ($25.00).

If applicants are unable to submit the application electronically, applications (including the application fee) may be sent to the address below.

Mailed applications must be postmarked by the deadline noted above. Checks should be made out to the “South Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association.”
