At yesterday’s South Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA South Carolina) Winter 2015 Conference it was announced that the Chapter Presidents’ Council of the APA has awarded APA South Carolina the Karen B. Smith Award for Overall Chapter Achievement. The award will be presented at the National Planning Conference in Seattle on Tuesday, April 21st during the APA/AICP Annual Meeting and Leadership Honors.

APA South Carolina is getting better, stronger each and every day. This award recognizes those improvements and our upward trend as an organization. This Chapter award is given by our peers; it does not recognize an individual but rather our entire membership. Each of you owns this award. This award is about where we’ve come from, the challenges we’ve faced, and where we are headed. This award is about legacy.

If you will be at the National Planning Conference in Seattle, please plan to join fellow APA South Carolina members in accepting this award. To view the nomination packet, click here.

While this award recognizes APA South Carolina’s achievements to date, it is also our inspiration moving forward. We are not done; we will continue to build legacy. 2015 will be a banner year of transformation as we move new programs and initiatives forward. Remember, it takes each and every one of us to make APA South Carolina great. Thank you for your membership and dedication to APA South Carolina.
